Queen City Guide Editorial Standards
Queen City Guide is an independent local publication focused on helping people discover the best of Cincinnati and the surrounding area.
Our mission is to highlight businesses, organizations, churches, neighborhoods, events, and experiences that we believe contribute positively to the community. We place particular emphasis on quality, safety, family life, good service, strong communities, and organizations that earn the trust of the people they serve.
Editorial Independence
Queen City Guide is a curated publication. Inclusion on the site is not automatic, and we do not attempt to provide a comprehensive listing of every business, organization, event, or viewpoint in the Cincinnati area.
We reserve editorial discretion over what we feature, recommend, review, promote, or publish. Decisions may be based on factors including relevance to our audience, quality, reputation, safety, usefulness, editorial fit, and consistency with the mission and character of Queen City Guide.
The absence of a business, organization, event, or viewpoint from Queen City Guide should not necessarily be interpreted as criticism of that person or organization.
People and Content Are Different
Our editorial decisions are based on the content, activity, message, event, or service being considered—not on the race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or other protected characteristic of the people involved.
Queen City Guide does not seek to exclude individuals from using the website because of who they are.
At the same time, operating a public website does not mean that Queen City Guide endorses, promotes, or publishes every message, cause, celebration, political position, cultural movement, or event submitted to us.
Family and Community Focus
Queen City Guide is intentionally designed as a resource for people looking for trustworthy recommendations and experiences that fit a family- and community-oriented publication.
We may therefore decline to feature material that, in our editorial judgment:
- does not fit the purpose or audience of Queen City Guide;
- primarily advocates for a political, ideological, or cultural cause outside our editorial focus;
- contains sexually explicit or strongly adult-oriented content;
- is unsafe, misleading, excessively controversial, or inconsistent with the type of resource we are building;
- does not meet our standards for quality, reputation, usefulness, or community value.
These standards apply regardless of the identity or background of the person or organization submitting the material.
Advertising and Sponsored Content
Payment does not guarantee publication.
Queen City Guide reserves the right to accept or decline advertising, sponsorships, promoted listings, or other commercial content based on the same editorial and brand standards that govern the rest of the publication.
Acceptance of advertising also does not necessarily constitute an endorsement of every belief or position held by an advertiser.
Our Purpose
Queen City Guide exists to make recommendations, not simply to catalogue everything that exists.
Our goal is to earn readers’ trust by exercising judgment about what we recommend and by consistently applying our standards.
